The “पूछ, पूछ,” Management Style

The “पूछ, पूछ,” Management Style

More Questions Than Answers (and definitely more “चाय पे चर्चा”!)

Ever wonder why your boss keeps asking his boss – or sometimes even you to “चाय पे चर्चा” (chat over tea) for every tiny decision?

Well, my friend, your boss might be a victim of the dreaded “पूछ, पूछ Management Style”!

Now, for those unfamiliar with fancy management terms, “पूछ, पूछ” basically means “ask, ask, ask, ask, and ask some more!”  (Nothing to do with curiosity)

This style involves your boss needing verbal confirmation from his boss for everything, from ordering stapler pins to balloons for the annual day to choosing the office Diwali decorations.

“Boss को पूछ कर करेंगे

Think of it as the ultimate game of “Should I or shouldn’t I?” – except your boss needs his boss to answer every single time.

But here’s the funny part: this indecisiveness becomes a double whammy!

While the boss gets stuck in “analysis paralysis,” there you get stuck doing all the asking to your boss’s boss.

Now, this style might be a dream come true for those “chilled-out” bosses who love a good excuse to avoid responsibility.

But for the ambitious go-getter types and their ever-questioning subordinates, it’s a recipe for disaster (and a serious lack of productivity).

The Blame Game: मसाला Edition

Let’s talk about fallout.

When things go south, guess who gets the blame? You guessed it – you, the poor subordinate!

Suddenly, it’s your fault you don’t have a crystal ball to predict your boss’s every whim.

The boss, meanwhile, subtly shows scant respect for you or even criticizes you, leaving you feeling like yesterday’s samosas – cold and forgotten.

Breaking Free from the पूछ, पूछ

But fear not, there’s light at the end of the चाय-stained tunnel!

Here’s the good news: Bosses can ditch the “पूछ, पूछ” and actually become, yes, leaders! They can empower their team members, fostering a culture of trust and (dare I say it?) independence.

And for the “पूछ, पूछ” prone subordinates?

Well, a little introspection is key.

Are you constantly asking questions because you genuinely need help, or are you afraid to take a little initiative?

Remember, a good boss appreciates someone who can think for themselves (and maybe even suggest a new चाय vendor!).

So, your boss and you can ditch the “पूछ, पूछ” and embrace a more collaborative style!

After all, a happy and empowered team is a productive team (and a team that might even bring their boss a stronger cup of मसाला चाय!).
