LIFE’S LESSON FOR ALL

My father passed away over 25 years back, on 20th July 2001, after being bedridden for over a year.
He had Parkinson’s Disease.
But his daughter-in-law, my wife, Veena rose to the occasion.
Caring for an ailing father or mother is truly commendable.
But caring for a bed-ridden father-in-law is far more praiseworthy!
This can teach us a lot about toughness, perseverance and, especially, selfless love.
Parkinson’s Disease is terrible.
It robs its victims of their memories, their good nature and much of their dignity.
The side-effects of medicine for Parkinson’s Disease, co-careldopa (Syndopa) makes the condition worse as the patient becomes mentally unstable and behave like one with schizophrenia.
(It is an irony that I was the brand manager of Syndopa which was launched in March 1990)
In this challenging situation, Veena rose to the occasion, tending him like a small stubborn child.
Hats off to Veena Hattangadi
Really lucky to have her as my better half.
